  • To effect strategic development of all forms of ministry
  • To be proactive in encouraging people into all forms of ministry both lay and ordained
  • To ensure appropriate training and support of ordained ministry, Church Related Community Workers (CRCW), lay preachers and all forms of ministry within the local church

Range of Activity

  • Reflecting creatively on all forms of ministry, including those which currently exist within the Synod and new ideas of ministry
  • Disseminating information about all forms of ministry throughout the Synod
  • Devising strategies which appropriately prioritise resources for ministry
  • Devising the overall strategy for the deployment of ministers of word and sacraments and CRCWs within the Synod
  • Taking responsibility for synod policies for Special Category Minister posts and CRCW Projects within the synodEncouraging people into all forms of ministry both lay and ordained
  • Encouraging people into eldership and offering oversight and care and training of elders
  • Offering oversight and care of lay preachers, local pastors, worship leaders and TLS students
  • Advising and acting on behalf of the Synod upon applications from candidates for ministry and admission into the URC
  • Offering oversight and care of ministerial and CRCW candidates, students, and people within first three years of service
  • Offering oversight and care of ministers and CRCWs
  • Taking responsibility for Ministerial Accompanied Self Appraisal, and formal reviews of post holders in Special Category Minister posts, CRCW Projects and of other ministers in synod posts.
