Our Vision is to Know, Love, Live, and Share Jesus for a Better World

Give God a Chance

Service Times:

The foundation of all our worship are the facts that ‘God’ loves us and sent ‘His Son’ over 2012 years ago, to bring a better life to everyone who seeks it.

Our Church:

New Providence is the smallest church within the ‘Halifax Group’ but we are there for you. We hold our service every Sunday morning at 11am but five times a year we share a service with other members of the group Heath and New Hope. Luddenden Foot now shares our minister and group services but is not a member of the group.

The second Sunday of the month is communion and the third is the youth groups Parade service.

We do have occasional special services such as the Toy Service at the beginning of advent when we bring new toys to be given to the Salvation Army for distribution to under-privileged children.

Situated in the Ovenden area you can find us on Keighley Road opposite the Beechwood Health Centre, and now with a zebra crossing directly out side our gate. Look for the nice lawns beside the path leading to the main entrance…Don’t be apprehensive just pop along and you will receive a warm welcome.

Arrive around 10.15am and enjoy free coffee and biscuits before the service. A good way to get to know us and relax.

Our minister is Rev. Heather Pollard.

New Provi Circle – Ladies only here. We meet on the fourth Monday of each month for a coffee and a chat. We are the brains behind church functions as it’s our job to organise things such as Gift Day meals, parties and whatever social activity the congregation suggests.

The venue is usually a member’s house. Kick off time 7.30pm

Garden Gang – Meet each Tuesday evening throughout the summer to tend to the grounds. The biggest job is cutting the lawns but we now have it down to a fine art. It takes about an hour to complete the work so we are not much of a nuisance to our neighbours. You’ve guessed it! we finish with coffee and a chat.

Meet us at 5.00pm if gardening is your forte.

Brownies – Gather forces on Friday evenings during school term time. We have lots of fun! making all sorts of things, we even have competitions to see who can grow the biggest Sunflower or best Tomato. Games are a big part of our activities but everything we do is based on having FUN FUN FUN, and learning about Jesus.

6.30pm is the time to come along and meet the Owls and their pack.

We merged with Carlton two years ago but kept their building. It is used by various groups including a Nigerian Church, Halifax Young Singers and the Choral Society. The Boys Brigade and Girls Association meet in the centre. It was this merger which caused a name change to New Providence.

Several of our congregation help to run this annual event. It is the first ever sponsored walk and has been going continuously for 54 years.

Some of our congregation also staff the Overgate shop in Ovenden.

Tuesdays 5.00pm – Garden Gang

Fridays during school term time 6.30pm Brownies

Fourth Monday each Month 7.30pm – Provi Circle Ladies Social Evening.

First Monday in the month the Long March Committee meet in the Raike’s Room.
