SUMMARY:Foundation online E-learning package
DESCRIPTION:“Welcome” to the online e-learning package for the Safeguarding foundation course. \nAll you need is a device and a connection to the internet.  This connection doesn’t need to be at home – you can do this training at someone else’s home\, in a church\, in a library\, in a coffee shop or even on a bus!!!  Wherever and whenever suits you best.  The training doesn’t have to be done in one sitting – you can do it in bite sized chunks\, when and where it suits you! At the end of the training there is a short quiz and then you are asked to enter you details. That’s it!!  You then send a message off to Church House via the press of a button and you will then receive your very own certificate and the records updated that you have completed your training. \nIt’s really easy. \nAll you need to do is to select from one of the options below.  There are 3 to choose from – the first two are in relation to what sort of device you are using.  The third option is a narrated version where there is no need to read the training – you can just sit back and let someone read it to you.  All three work in the same way and have the same conclusion at the end.  So\, all you need to do is to select which option suits you best\, move your cursor over the blue coloured link\, press the CTRL button your keyboard (which is usually at the bottom left) and press the button on your mouse.  Just complete the training in your own time and wherever you want.  All I would suggest that if you are using the narrated option and you are in a public place you may want to use some earphones!! \nSo here are the links :– \nFoundation Course for a Laptop or Desktop Computer Safeguarding Foundation E-Course (canva.com) \nFoundation Course for a phone or tablet Safeguarding Foundation E-Course for phone and tablet (canva.com) \nNarrated version of the Foundation Course with voice over for each slide Safeguarding Foundation E-Course narrated version (canva.com) \nIf there are any issues in relation to the above or you have any questions\, then this particular area of safeguarding training is being overseen by Paula Kitson\, the synod safeguarding support officer.  Paula can be contacted on her email if you have any concerns or queries relating to the e-learning package.  Paula’s email address is safeguardingsupport@urcyorkshirenorthern.org.uk \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:It all started just before lockdown in 2020. A group of young adults from across the Yorkshire Synod met in Huddersfield to drink coffee (or tea\, or hot chocolate)\, to build friendships and to read the Bible together. \nThroughout lockdown\, we met for a time using zoom and once we felt it safe to do so we began to meet again each month in a different town or city across Yorkshire to share fellowship together again. \nBelow are the up and coming dates for ‘Coffee Mornings Together’:\nSaturday 18 June\, York\nSaturday 30 July\, Sheffield\nSaturday 10 September\, Bradford\nSaturday 08 October\, Synod Venue TBC\nSaturday 05 November\, Huddersfield\nSaturday 10 December\, York \nIf you consider yourself to be a ‘young adult’ (minimum age 17 years) and you are searching for a place to meet others\, build friendship and to talk about faith\, please do come along and join us. \nVenues decided closer to the date. Join us if you have a passion\, if you have questions\, if you are just curious\, or if you don’t really think it is for you! \nThis month\, join us to think about what good news we really are offering people? Does it always feel like good news? What is the ‘Good News’? \nWe will spend an hour together\, talking\, thinking and praying about mission. And over the coming months we will discover more of where God might be leading us\, as individuals\, churches\, and as a synod. \nDon’t worry if you can’t make it each month\, each time is a one-off. SUMMARY:Mental Health and Christianity Conference
DESCRIPTION:URC Yorkshire Synod is delighted to be supporting a new venture in Yorkshire on wellbeing and faith through the MENTAL HEALTH AND CHRISTIANITY CONFERENCE. \nThe conference brings together organisations and church bodies to maintain and nurture the obvious link between Mental Health and Christianity. And how our faith impacts our mental health\, and vice versa. \nA first of its kind. We’re so excited to see this event come to life in May 2022! It will be a day full of reflection\, inspiration and networking. This event is bringing together three Christian denominations as well as other consulting agencies. There’ll be workshops\, with a keynote speech by Dr Tasia Scrutton. For just £12 you will receive lunch and refreshments\, a full day of input and reflection\, and maybe even some goodies at the end!  \nThe event will take place at Wesley Hall\, Crookes\, Sheffield\, S10 1UD. But as part of our commitment on inclusivity and reaching as many as we can\, as well as our commitment to reducing our carbon footprint\, we will be livestreaming parts of the day too! Tickets are available for £12 if attending in-person (including lunch and refreshments)\, livestreaming tickets are free but we welcome donations for helping to continue facilitating this element. Concession tickets for Under-18s and the unemployed are £5.
