DESCRIPTION:The Autumn half term is a busy time for anyone who works with children and young people in our Yorkshire churches. We have had our BIG Day Out\, followed by our Youth Residential and then we met for Youth Forum. Now the half term is over and there are only a few weeks before Advent and Christmas events and activities begin… \nOn Thursday 01 December there will be an opportunity to take a short amount of time out of the hustle and bustle. Join with other children and youth ministers from across the Yorkshire synod to pray together\, to talk to one another\, to walk alongside each other\, and to share lunch together. DESCRIPTION:The Youth FORUM continues on it’s journey to become a safe and open space where young people can gather from across the Yorkshire Synod to be together and to talk with each other about their faith. This time we will spend some time thinking about our well-being and the role that the church and it’s leaders have in nurturing positive mental health for children and young people. It is set to be an exciting and meaningful day together. SUMMARY:Foundation online E-learning package
DESCRIPTION:“Welcome” to the online e-learning package for the Safeguarding foundation course. \nAll you need is a device and a connection to the internet.  This connection doesn’t need to be at home – you can do this training at someone else’s home\, in a church\, in a library\, in a coffee shop or even on a bus!!!  Wherever and whenever suits you best.  The training doesn’t have to be done in one sitting – you can do it in bite sized chunks\, when and where it suits you! At the end of the training there is a short quiz and then you are asked to enter you details. That’s it!!  You then send a message off to Church House via the press of a button and you will then receive your very own certificate and the records updated that you have completed your training. \nIt’s really easy. \nAll you need to do is to select from one of the options below.  There are 3 to choose from – the first two are in relation to what sort of device you are using.  The third option is a narrated version where there is no need to read the training – you can just sit back and let someone read it to you.  All three work in the same way and have the same conclusion at the end.  So\, all you need to do is to select which option suits you best\, move your cursor over the blue coloured link\, press the CTRL button your keyboard (which is usually at the bottom left) and press the button on your mouse.  Just complete the training in your own time and wherever you want.  All I would suggest that if you are using the narrated option and you are in a public place you may want to use some earphones!! \nSo here are the links :– \nFoundation Course for a Laptop or Desktop Computer Safeguarding Foundation E-Course (canva.com) \nFoundation Course for a phone or tablet Safeguarding Foundation E-Course for phone and tablet (canva.com) \nNarrated version of the Foundation Course with voice over for each slide Safeguarding Foundation E-Course narrated version (canva.com) \nIf there are any issues in relation to the above or you have any questions\, then this particular area of safeguarding training is being overseen by Paula Kitson\, the synod safeguarding support officer.  Paula can be contacted on her email if you have any concerns or queries relating to the e-learning package.  Paula’s email address is safeguardingsupport@urcyorkshirenorthern.org.uk \n  \n

A group of young adults from across the Yorkshire Synod met in Huddersfield to drink coffee (or tea\, or hot chocolate)\, to build friendships and to read the Bible together. \nThroughout lockdown\, we met for a time using zoom and once we felt it safe to do so we began to meet again each month in a different town or city across Yorkshire to share fellowship together again. \nBelow are the up and coming dates for ‘Coffee Mornings Together’:\nSaturday 18 June\, York\nSaturday 30 July\, Sheffield\nSaturday 10 September\, Bradford\nSaturday 08 October\, Synod Venue TBC\nSaturday 05 November\, Huddersfield\nSaturday 10 December\, York \nIf you consider yourself to be a ‘young adult’ (minimum age 17 years) and you are searching for a place to meet others\, build friendship and to talk about faith\, please do come along and join us. \nVenues decided closer to the date. DESCRIPTION:This event is the synod’s annual youth residential for young people aged 11 – 16 years and this year we will be gathering at Peak Venture (a Kingswood centre in Sheffield) from Friday 30 September – Sunday 2nd October. \nAt Peak Venture we will be pushing our limits and having a go at some exciting outdoor activities\, filling our bellies full of delicious food (and tuck) and we will even be doing some evening activities.
