Halifax Long March
It is the 54th walk and starts at the YMCA Crossley Street, Halifax on Easter Sunday night (21st April), setting off at midnight. We register walkers from 9.30pm. There is a pep talk before set off about health and safety issues, and behaving responsibly such as not causing noise or other nuisance. The walk is marathon length 26.2 miles. Anyone not back by 10am on Monday morning is brought back by minibus.
To take part, there is a registration form along with full information on our website at www.longmarch.org.uk.
Forms are also available at the YMCA, and several shops, churches and pubs have put our flyers on display. Around Calderdale, are thirteen of our banners displayed in strategic places.
The organisation you wish to walk for must be registered with us so please make sure it is before signing up.
You must be 14 years of age on the night with parental/guardian consent if you are under 18. There is a £20 registration fee with discounts for groups of ten or more.
Do you have the stamina to take on the challenge of this longest running event of its kind? After all, we invented the sponsored walk.
