St Andrew’s URC in Scarborough uses its rooms and hall to serve the local community during the week. A community cafe, playgroup, social group, youth group and support groups all use the back part of the building – so when the boiler needed replacing raising the funds was a priority.
Our local shop suggested we apply for a grant from the funds collected when shoppers pay 5p for a carrier bag. Through the ‘carriers for causes’ scheme run by groundworks we received a grant for £1000 towards providing a warm welcome for the community!
