At long last we have some good news from Idle Upper Chapel. Work started in mid November on our new church building. It has taken 17 years to get to this stage due to problems obtaining planning permissions and raising the funds to build. Our thanks go to Sheila Duncan at the Synod for her help and patience in guiding us through the various stages.
We have worked with Langtry Langton Architects on the design of the building and we appointed Torpoint Construction Ltd in November as main contractors. At the moment it is just a muddy hole but in the next week the foundations are due to be cast and the steel frame will be installed early in the new year. Completion of the building is scheduled for mid May 2020 (subject to the winter weather).
Graham Carter, Church Secretary
PS: The foundation and floor slab were completed by the Christmas holidays and the construction of the walls started on the 6th January. It is taking shape very quickly – exciting times!
