Rev Ashley Evans, Yorkshire Synod Evangelist, sent out an email to all churches and ministers last week inviting them to join in and take part in a National Day of Prayer and Worship in response to the Coronavirus crisis. This has been instituted by Pastor Jonathan Oloyede who championed the National Day of Prayer and Global Day of Prayer movements, calling on all denominations to come together to pray and fast every hour of every day, for the next 3 months. Each church or group of churches taking part covering a 24-hour period in April, May and June. Our day is the 15th of each of these 3 months, with churches/individuals taking a half or full hour slot within the 24-hours.
Jonathan suggested that our prayers are based around:
Psalm 91, The Lord’s Prayer and 2 Chronicles 7:14.
The three main areas to cover are:
1. To exalt and worship God as Sovereign over these Isles.
2. To resist and rebuke evil, disease and death.
3. To ask God to Bless the Land with Healing, Transformation and Revival.
There has been a wonderful response from our churches to Ashley’s request and we are pleased to report that all the slots are filled. However, if you haven’t yet responded and would still like to do so, JUST PRAY at a time to suit you on the 15th and let’s come together (even though we are apart) and be part of this fantastic movement!!
