Yorkshire Synod Moderator, Rev Jamie Kissack and his wife Fran, spent Holy Week with the congregation at Flowergate URC, Whitby, a place with such rich early Christian heritage through St Hilda and Caedmon and others.
Jamie reflects on their weekend:
“Meeting in their ‘Upper Room’ on Maundy Thursday, we joined the congregation and I led them as we met around a table to remember and reflect on the Last Supper.
On Good Friday, we joined the Whitby walk of witness along with Bishop Paul Ferguson, starting at the top of the famous 199 steps at St Mary’s Church, and then down through the busy streets of Whitby before joining the Flowergate congregation again for a Good Friday service.
Fran and I had a wonderful time in Whitby and very much enjoyed the hospitality of the Flowergate congregation. It was really good to be part of their journey through Holy Week.”
As a member of the Flowergate Congregation & Fellowship I can assure everyone that sharing our Holy Week Services with the Moderator, Rev Jamie Kissack and his wife Fran, was special for all of us. I was delighted that they were able to join the Walk of Witness through Whitby town. May I add my Thanks to Rev Michael Gobbett and his team for organising and keeping this wonderful tradition going.
Thank you for your kind comments John, they will be passed on to the Moderator.
