Here is the wonderful group of people that went to Whitemoor Lakes for Youth Assembly 2022 and the parallel event, the Youth Leaders gathering. The synod (and the county) was well represented with 14 young people in attendance and two Yorkshire ministers delivering keynotes across the weekend; Rev. Fran Kissack & Rev. Samantha Sheehan. Kai continues to serve on Youth Executive as the Yorkshire Synod Youth Rep, and we saw Alana Hurman and Megan Westgarth elected to serve as joint Equality and Diversity Representatives.
Over the weekend youth assembly celebrated the URC jubilee year and explored the ways in which we ‘Commemorate the Past, Celebrate the Present and Create the Future.’ We spent time in YOUth Explore small groups where we read the Bible together, shared our thoughts and asked questions, we came together for YOUth Decides to discuss items for business and there was plenty of time to socialise and be together. Saturday night we enjoyed a silent disco before we toasted marshmallows on the campfire. Youth Assembly is not complete without an impromptu (but thankfully false) fire alarm so we all lined up in our allocated places before heading back inside to the party.
We are blessed and proud and ask for your prayers for our young people and young adults.
