Our vision and valuesAt the core of all that we do
“In the Yorkshire Synod we want to be churches where every child and young person has the opportunity to experience the love of Jesus.”
Worship can happen every day and in any place, not just on Sunday morning and not just in the church building. Jesus cares about all aspects of our lives, the every day ordinary activities can be part of our worship too.
Children, young people and adults can all follow Jesus, and can support, encourage and learn from each other on the journey of faith. All adults share the responsibility, and can share the joy of having children and young people as part of the church family.
Safe and Welcome
Anyone is welcome in our churches, which we want to be safe places to ask questions without feeling uncomfortable, to disagree without being judged, and to doubt without being rejected. Here we explore together life and faith in Jesus.
We Go Out
We want to support children and young people in our communities and help them to experience God’s love in many different ways, in their schools, families, or groups. We don’t always need to run more groups or events at our churches.
What do you think of our values?
Perhaps your church could adopt them too?
What could you do next?
- First of all you could have a conversation in your church about them. You could involve children, elders, young people, families, or the whole church meeting to be part of it.
- Secondly you can think about what these values might look like in practice in your church. We have prepared some statements to help with some ideas. We know you will be doing some of these already. Perhaps there is something new that you might like to try?
Jon and Megan would love to come and help you think about what this vision might mean for your church. Please do get in touch.
