17th April saw over 60 elders gather from across the Yorkshire Synod on Zoom for a conference titled “Wise and Wonderful”! It was organised by the fabulous Elders Development Group (EDG) with technical support from Lawrence Moore.
The day consisted of a variety of speakers, including Simeon Mitchell and Roo Stewart from the URC’s Church and Society team, Helen Stephens from A Rocha and Rachel Mander from Hope for the Future. There were workshops, keynotes, time for discussion, and worship.
Val Morrison, Convenor of the EDG said: “We were very pleased with how the event ran. After not holding a conference in 2020 due to the pandemic, and conscious of how moving it online would go, we were so grateful to our speakers for their inspiration, and for everyone’s enthusiasm shown in attending and engaging in the event. We felt that holding it online has paved the way for people to still engage in this way in the future, even if/when we moved back to an in-person gathering”
