It was a packed house at Marsden Church on Saturday 8th October when Soul Choir came to entertain.

Ruth Sheldrake, Church Secretary, explains further, “The leader of the Soul Choir, Dan Price, held ‘A teach me to sing Soul‘ session.  We were put through our paces (or should I say notes) quite rigorously until ‘we weren’t bad’. It was great fun to be part of it. After a break for light refreshments, the real Soul Choir of about 50+ people then assembled at the front of the sanctuary and gave a totally inspiring concert. The audience had been queuing outside to hear this choir.  The church hasn’t been so full for a very long time and we couldn’t have fit anyone else in the sanctuary. It was wonderful.”

This was followed on Sunday 9th October with the Annual Marsden Fringe Jazz Worship where the young people of Marsden United Church helped lead the service.

Ruth continues, “Firstly Dan led the congregation in the opening prayer and we were then treated to the musical gifts of Deven on his guitar; Kaiden on keyboard (who also plays with Downholme Jazz); and Phoebe on the trumpet. All in all a wonderful musical weekend and thanks to everyone who took part.”
