The congregation at Heywood URC, Northowram welcomed Yorkshire Moderator, Rev Jamie Kissack, to lead their Communion Service on Sunday 6th November, where he talked about Blind Bartimaeus on the theme of “What do you want me to do for you?” – the question that Jesus asked Bartimaeus as he cried out to have mercy on him. Jamie spoke of the importance of ‘interruptions’ in our relationship with God and neighbour. After the service, folk headed for refreshments and further fellowship with appreciation of the visit and much favourable talk about the morning.
Synod Companion, Rev Chris Wood, explained that although the congregation at Heywood is small in number, they are faithful and very committed to mission in their village, with their building being used extensively for community groups including the following:
Lunch Club; Stay Well Group; Brownies; Rainbows; Historic Society; Slimming Group; volunteer group that tidy the graveyard, with other opportunities being looked into.
