West Park URC in Harrogate is proud to be hosting an impressive and moving exhibition which marks the 100th anniversary of the town’s Cenotaph. Barbara Jones, Church Secretary tells more…

“Entitled ‘More than a name on a memorial’ the exhibition and associated programme of events aim to focus on the lives of the 1,136 people remembered on the Cenotaph and their families in Harrogate during and after the first and second world wars. The opening service, led by Rev Alison Micklem, brought together representatives of current serving military, the Mayor of Harrogate, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, local veterans and support groups, historians and church representatives. The exhibition is open each weekend until Remembrance Sunday on 12th November and is attracting a wide range of visitors to the church, some coming to find out about relatives, some to learn about local history and veterans coming to remember colleagues.”
