Trinity Church, Rawdon held their 1% Harvest Appeal on Sunday 15th October to raise money for Christians against Poverty (CAP) – Monica Leyburns, Church Secretary, tells more…
“Staff and the owner from Turkuaz Restaurant in Rawdon kindly provided everyone who attended (approximately 80 people) with a delicious Turkish breakfast, enjoyed by all. It was a community outreach event for the wider community of Rawdon. The breakfast was attended by our Foodbank volunteers and families of those supported by the Foodbank. Families also came along from our Mums and Tots group as well as customers from Turkuaz Restaurant who had been invited through the restaurant. A play space was made for young children who attended which created a lovely family atmosphere.
Haydn Wilson, who has led our Church in the last 18 months gave an interesting talk on it’s history which goes back to 1846. Matt Chew has just taken over as Restaurant Manager at Turkuaz, and has started coming to Trinity and he gave an organ recital. To-date the money raised for CAP is just over £1700.”
